Trey was born 8 lb 6 oz. When we left hospital he was 7 lb 15 oz. At his first pedi check up they said he was 7 lb 14oz but we went to lactation consult afterwards at hospital and they weighed him at 8lb 7oz. Tomorrow we have to go back to pedi to check his weight but how can I get an reading from their office if the hospital scale said something COMPLETELY different? I don't want to go in there and they say he's barely gained anything when I know I'm transferring anywhere between 2-3 oz of milk to him each feeding based off out consults with lactation specialist.
Ellanna was 7 lb 2 oz at birth. She was 6 lb 10 oz at discharge and 2 days later at her ped visit. The ped told me she probably did gain in those 2 days - it was just that she continued to loose weight post discharge and was no regaining Had to return 3 days later and she was up to 6 lb 13 oz. From that point the ped said no need to return so long as we were getting wet and dirty diapers and she was not screaming of hunger after I nursed. If it is coming out in the diaper - it has to be going in I have not had her checked since. However, as Mom I can see her face getting a little more pudgey.
I would say use your motherly instincts and not worry. Is he peeing and pooping 8+ times per day? Does he get content after nursing? Can you see change in his growth? If so, then I say he is fine whatever the scale says. Remember, babies do not have to be chubby to be healthy. I always had rather slim babies and they were content and healthy.
I wouldn't worry about it. When Grayson was born they said he was 21inches long. When I went to the pediatrician, they said he was 19 3/4. Sometimes it happens, user error... or one of the machines is off on its calculations.
If he is having enough diapers, wet and poopy and he is eating good, I wouldn't worry
JaxonJocelyn Gabriel Grayson and due in September!
