The lactation consultant checked Trey multiple times for a tongue tie and found nothing but today while he was sleeping, his mouth was opened and it looks like he may have a lip tie. I made am appt for the ped tomorrow to check his weights well as check to see if he has a lip tie because I've resorted to a nipple shield while feeding him because his latch still seems.somewhat shallow and he keeps slipping off. I've done the sandwich trick and he acts like I'm gagging him with my nipple yet he feeds for a good amount of time with the shield and has plenty of wet/dirty diapers.
I'm hoping he really doesn't have a lip tie as I hate to see him go through the ped clipping it but I'm really wanting answers to why we're still having latch issues.
If he does have a lip tie, having it clipped now is better than waiting. I had Henry's tongue tie clipped yesterday at the ENT and it was over really quick. He snipped it, I nursed him, and he fell asleep.
