The nurses and lactation consultant told me it would feel like a tingly warm sensation but to me it is very painful. I tell DH it held like a large needle or rod is being shoved through my nipple and it almost makes me want to cry. I do have a pretty fast let down so not sure if that's why it's painful.
What does everyone else experience?
It hurts when Ellianna latches on. It stops within a few seconds, so I know that she has a good latch (and I am not getting sore - so that it good). I just know that the first 2-5 seconds will be a sharp pain. I do not think that is the let down though. When I am full and she is sleeping, there are times I get let down which is like sharp pins and needles. If possible, I pump then. It happened yesterday morning, and I pumped 6 ounces out of one breast - so I was really full. Of course she did not sleep AT ALL last night, so there is nothing left this morning.
Mine is very strong and uncomfortable. I usually feel it in both sides, regardless of which side she is nursing on. If she naps for too long or doesn't completely empty me at a feeding, I will feel it even if I'm not in the same room as her.
