If the bleeding has stopped, do I have to wait until the 6-8 weeks is up to go swimming or can I jump in the with dh and Aidan? I'm really feeling like I'm missing out by staying inside constantly feeding or holding trey (he doesn't like being put down).
I have my 4 week check up next Thursday.

My midwife never gave me a list of things I couldn't do, she just told me to listen to my body and not overdo it at first. I'm 3 weeks pp today and I've been swimming for 2 weeks.

She didn't tell me not to but I heard swimming could give you infections or if you're lightly bleeding not to wear tampons until after 6 weeks

Also I want to add my pool is salt water pool and I want to get Trey in...really just to dip his feet. Would that be ok or is he too young to go in the pool?

I was told 6 weeks before a bath or swimming. I cheated on the bath

I think a baby can go in the water once the belly button is off and all clear.

I was never told anything regarding not bathing or going in the pool. I've been swimming with the kids several times. McKinley is 4 weeks old.

My pediatrician said to keep the baby out of direct sunlight. MY OB said I could go swimming 3 weeks after my c-section as long as i was no longer bleeding.

I am still spotting, but I hope to go this weekend, maybe for an evening swim right before the sun goes down and bring her in with me....provided the water is warm enough.

Would it really hurt to just wear a tampon for the short time in the pool? I started to spot but it's very very light and pinkish color and with a baby it's not like I'm going to be in Kong...possibly just sit on the steps of the pool. Also I'm going to wait until after my check up to get in pool so I have the go ahead but also I have to get him a sun hat. I have a swim shirt and diaper/swim trunks.
I also heard you can only put sunblock on babies...not sunscreen until they're 6 months old. Dumb question...what's the difference?

I was told nothing up the hoo-haa until 6 weeks, including tampons or penis's LOL

Personally, I wouldn't put any type of sun protection on a newborn's skin, it's just too sensitive and there's so many chemicals in those products. If anything, I would look into organic products. I used to use BabyGanics on Connor after awhile - can't remember if it was 6-8 weeks or 3+ months, it should say the recommended age on the tube though.

Also, I was told the same as for taking baby in the sun - a no no at this young of an age. Although, we are in FL so that may make a difference. I remember in NC when Connor was born (in May) our ped said short periods of sun was OK for vitamin D purposes.
