My midwife recommended this to me. She says it is like a mini-Mirena. When I was on Mirena I felt exhausted all the time. She told me that was because it's a progesterine (sp?) only birth control. Skyla is the combination one but it is safe to use while breastfeeding. She says that it does stop ovulation 85% of the time but it also thickens the mucus plug. They did a study on it and she said that when women ovulated 99.1% of those women did not conceive due to the plug.

So, it will stop ovulation in the majority of cases, prevent conception in the vast majority of the rest, and it won't exhaust me. The downside is that i will have to wait until 7-8weeks PP.

My OB also recommended this to me. It is the only hormonal BC that has a dose low enough to not cause clots. I am going to go with it b/c a)I hate condoms -a perk to bring married is tht I dont have to use them and B) avoiding the fertile week really puts adamper on your sex life when you have a 24-26 day cycle.

I haven't heard of this one. Glad you posted I'm going to ask about this one! I was going to do mirena but never asked if it was ok to use while breastfeeding of course I was going to talk to my Dr about what options would be best when I do go for pp check up though.

My doctor recommended Mirena to me, knowing I am breastfeeding. I will look into this too, and ask my doc about it next week at my 6 week PP checkup.

I wasn't a fan of mirena and haven't heard of this one. I'll have to look into it. We were leaning towards the para guard.

I've already discussed the paraguard with my doctor and will be getting it placed in 3 more weeks.
