My Medela died tonight. It is over two years old and I have been using it pretty rough the last 4 weeks. Still would have thought it'd last longer for what I paid for it. On to the noisy Hygeia. At least it does work well. *sigh*

Which model did you have? I had a Pump in Style Advanced with Anna that only lasted 2 months (8 weeks EP). Then I got a Freestyle. I used that bad boy for 6 months of EP (HUNDREDS of hours). It is still going, but will freeze up sometimes with my nipples pulled (OUCH!), so I'm not sure how much longer it will last, but by a conservative estimate, I used it for 450 hours pumping for Anna and never had a problem. So I guess I can't complain that it's having some problems now after 2 years in storage.

I purchased the Medela Pump n' Style. With my own actual money, lol. I had Alex JUST before they declared breast pumps medical equipment and that insurance had to cover them. That's what is making me sore right now.

The Hygeia Q works well and I'm pleasantly surprised that I had no trouble with output switching between the two pumps. However, it is frikkin NOISY. At night I have to throw a quilt over it otherwise it will wake up Alex and send him into a hysterical frenzy. He *hates* this pump.

Honestly, my only complaint is the noise. Otherwise I'm pretty thrilled with this pump.

I purchased both of my pumps myself, as well. I did get a replacement pump from Medela for the one that broke since it was still under warranty. I returned it for store credit after buying the Freestyle. My current insurance doesn't offer a Medela. I know I need to hurry up and get one from insurance in case this one goes completely.
