DH was great about getting up while he was off work for the first 3 weeks. I was still recovering and so exhausted that I needed all the sleep I could get. So even though I'm breastfeeding, DH would get up and go to the nursery, change his diaper, and bring him to me to feed him. Then he'd take him back and put him back to bed when we were done. That was so helpful.

Since he went back to work he's stopped helping out at night. At first I was peeved, but I'm ok with it now. He has to get up early for work - and even though I feel like I work just as hard (probably harder) as a stay at home mom, most of the time I'm able to sleep for an extra hour or so after he leaves in the morning. Thankfully, Finn sleeps really well, and usually only gets up at 2 and 6 am. Occasionally we'll have a rough night where I don't get much sleep. So the following night, I'll put Finn to bed early, and go to bed at the same time as him, with earplugs in to block out noise from the rest of the house still being awake and noisy. DH will put DD to bed, and then leave the baby monitor on next to him at the computer while he plays video games. If Finn wakes up, he'll bring him to me to feed him. That way I can get a few extra hours of sleep when I really need it.

Right now he is working 5pm-3am so he's not home for half the night. Zack does get up some nights around 3:30 so if I ask DH to change his butt he will but he broke his thumb the other day so diaper changes are hard on him so I just do it. I stopped pumping at night so we nurse, burped and butt change and then he normally goes right back to sleep.

I do all the night stuff. But that's because I have the boobs and I don't see any point to DH getting up to change her diaper just to say that he does something. We also cosleep, so for one of the night wakings, I can just lift my shirt and go back to sleep. For the other one, I usually do a diaper change. But DH will get the big kids out of bed in the morning and get them set up to play quietly so I can sleep in a bit when he leaves for work. And he's really good at taking care of me, which is really nice since most of my time is spent putting the kids first and it's good to have someone else make me a priority.
