When baby's cord falls off, does it normally all come off? Is it normal to leave a little scab? Eli's fell off a few days ago, but a little piece is still there so that it looks like a scab covering his button.

Tristans did the same thing and little bits of scab keep falling off on his also. I've already given him a few baths also. His skin was just so horribly dry he needed a bath to help get some of that flaky skin off.
Is what's left dry? If it is, it will just fall off. Lena's fell off and some was left, but it was oozy. The dr put silver nitrate (I think that's what it was... silver something anyway) and that dried up in the next couple of days. If it's dry, it should be fine.
Ditto for Anna. Most came off but some scab was left. We happened to have an appt the next day and the doc said it was fine to give her a real bath and gently remove the scabs if the come off easily. Anna still had a scab up until a few days ago and we've been bathing her for weeks.
DD had a small scab for a week or so after the stump fell off. The nurse at the hospital said to bathe her after the stump fell off, so we did. Then at the ped's office he said to wait until the scab fell off but we had already bathed her a couple of times. Oh well. It's fine now.
