We live between two malls. One is large and has a very nice nursing room. The other one has a bathroom with an odd odor. Needless to say I cannot nurse (and will not) in a stall. The only other place is a hard bench in the middle of the mall. When I asked at Gap if the clerk knew of anywhere in the mall that was a little better for nursing, she told me that Gap offers their handicap nursing room to any Mom who wants it for however long wanted. You can take your stroller in with you and there is a seat there. Not that nursing mothers should be relegated to a dressing room - but I do prefer the privacy over a wooden bench in the middle of the mall. It is quiet and Ellianna does not get distracted. It sounds as if all Gap stores openly offer this to nursing mothers. For that - Gap you get my Mommy vote

Good for them! I'm all for public nursing (in fact I just tried it to settle Rory down in Ikea today, lol. Didn't work, but we tried) but if there is a quiet place offered with room to spread out I'd take it.

My bro took us out to dinner last night to Applebee's and right next to us was a lady with an 6 month old...complete first child and she was trying to nurse him as he was completely screaming hungry and she was struggling with a coverup that the little guy kept fighting with...he did NOT want to be under it and therefore wouldn't latch. And I heard her say to her hubby that maybe she should take him to the bathroom to nurse and I couldn't help myself I leaned over and told her to just ignore the darn cover and feed her baby that she wouldn't eat in a bathroom and neither should her baby. And I told her if anyone complained about her N.I.P that I would tell them where to shove it for her. And then just so she didn't feel self conscious I took Tristan and even though he really only comfort nurses since he doesn't get a lot cause of his lip tie and my nipple issue I latched him on right there. No one even said a darn thing to either of us. Sometimes ya just gotta nurse in public!

One of the other children's stores also offers a nursing a room. Children's Place maybe? I can't remember which store, it was when Connor was a baby that I discovered it! Good to know about Gap too!!

It's good to know there are options for those who want or need it.
