Eva's cord stump has been bleeding through her clothes. I looked it up on Dr. Sear's site and he says it can happen and to not be concerned unless it is really soaking through gauze. I have to be so careful about how I hold her because I am afraid of irritating it. It has made a stain on a couple outfits. For one thing, when we got home from the hospital we realized that the clamp was still on so we had to go back the next day and get them to remove it. It never bled during that time but maybe having that clamp on caused it to pull away and be more sensitive?
Has this happened to anyone? Her appointment is this week and I am going to call before if it continues just in case I should be concerned.
^^ agreed, I'd call the ped office. I'm sure they'll take care of it at your appt if not before.
DD got silver nitrate on her stump at the hospital and then it fell off cleanly at 5 days. Now DS has lost his, but it was hanging by a thread and we clipped the thread, and now the thready bit came off too but he keeps bleeding a tiny bit. It's been like this almost a week now. Just some little scabs that somehow get rubbed and then bleed a tiny bit and scab again. We have tiny blood stains on a bunch of blankets, outfits, diaper covers etc now. And since DH is doing laundry they aren't getting washed out properly I don't want to nag or micromanage him since he's doing so much right now, I told him to spray Shout on them but I can tell he hasn't on most of them. Oh well. Anyway, we saw the pediatrician today and she examined it and said it's fine. She looked for abnormal tissue or signs of infection and it was fine. We've been using alcohol wipes on it a couple times a day and keeping it dry and clean as possible.
