did you know there is a "right" way to do it?
After 7 kids, I didn't know I could be doing it wrong until Jocelyn.

This is how we swaddle! We always kept the legs loose because DD would freak out if her legs were restrained too much. We mainly aim to pin the arms down, that seems to be what calms them. My FIL has a great technique that uses 2 small receiving blankets. One goes under the body and around the arms (and tightly back under the body) as a strait jacket of sorts, then the second one loosely wraps around them on top to keep them warm. But we usually do the large blanket, triangle edge down for the head, traditional burrito wrap method (as shown in the video in the link)

I use the swaddle mes which keeps his legs loose but i didnt know that about the hips.

Yep I did read about that, although when I did swaddle I used a Swaddle Me, because I cannot swaddle to save my life. DD could always free her arms. Now she hates it.
