I should start referring to my son as the Super Soaker 2000. Seriously, this baby pees more than my 2 year old! He soaks through a prefold in a hour--2 tops. He soaks through a pocket diaper in less time. I have tried double stuffing him at night but he still barely makes it 3 hours before he pees through it! I don't know what to do! I don't think its the diapers because he can soak through disposables in the same amount of time.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I am going crazy :/
JaxonJocelyn Gabriel Grayson and due in September!
Lena is also a super pee-er. We were using mini inserts meant for newborns, but at the beginning of the week, we were having big problems. I started using the Sotbums one size bamboo pods completely doubled over and that has worked great. The mini ones can also be added as doublers, if needed. We use Softbums shells (covers) but they can go inside any cover. I highly recommend them. Super absorbent.
Are you trifolding the prefolds? Trifolding in covers (as opposed to fastening them on) provides more absorbency in the wet zone. It is messier when they poop but it might be something to try and see if it helps.
If you're looking to stretch your current system first, I'd get some hemp or bamboo doublers or inserts and start folding one into a trifolded prefold (or put behind the microfiber in your pockets) and see how long that holds. There are a ton of options out there so I'd just get whatever you can afford. With your guy it sounds like "the bigger the better" Personally I've found Thirsties hemp inserts to be amazingly absorbent but they are on the pricey side.
Down the line you may want to try some super absorbent fitteds. Or bamboo or hemp flats (padfold in a cover or pocket). But regardless of whether you get into that, a good stash of doublers (or inserts you can use as doublers) will come in very handy for your heavy wetter good luck!!! And don't hesitate to try the CD board, I know some of those mamas have HWs and could tell you their tips!
