I am kicking myself for quitting BFing so soon because formula is turning out to be such a pain. Almost all night long my poor baby tosses and turns and whimpers, and while he does that he is clawing at his face and tugging at his hair. His poor little tummy is like a rock. He doesn't cry though. He doesn't act like that all day, just after sleeping in bed for a while. He has also been spitting up quite a bit as well. Almost after every bottle. We use the Mylicon here and there, and the gripe water he gets twice a day morning and night with a half ounce of water and a pinch of sugar. We have tried gerber gentle, similac sensitive, and now we are trying the soy. The soy seemed like it was working great, but the last 4-5 days he's had a little bit of a decrease in appetite, I'm wondering if he doesn't like the taste or if it just doesn't sit right with him. Any formula suggestions? After this soy I think we are just going to go back to the Similac sensitive. It worked somewhat better than all of the others. Are tummy aches just going to happen? I just hate when he wiggles around and it seems like he's in pain and I can't do anything to help :-( We have our 2 month check up tomorrow and I am going to have a conversation with my Dr because I don't feel like its normal for him to be so uncomfortable at night.

It's been awhile since I ff but if I remember correctly if you are going to switch its important to gradually switch. Is he constipated? I know David acted like that when he was constipated. Huge hugs Hun. I wish I had more advice.
He isn't constipated, although I think the Soy is making his poop a little firmer. Our doctor never said to gradually switch, I wonder if that's why he has so much trouble! But we keep him on one for at least a week or 2 at a time.

I agree that gradually switching might help. We use gerber gentle, but in all fairness Anna has been on formula since the day after we came home from the hospital because my milk never came in. We haven't had to switch her, thank goodness, but when she was going through a fussy stage we used gerber soothe at night and it helped calm her a little. Do you give your lo a bath at night? We give Anna nightly baths before bed and after she gets washed up, we put the washcloth on her tummy and just pour the warm water over it for a while. It helps keep her warm while in the bath, but the real reason I do it is to help her tummy. It really seems to keep her bowels moving well and helps with gas, too.
I hope you find what works for your lo one soon! It's so hard to watch them be uncomfortable!
Yes he gets a bed time bath at 8:30 every night. we will try the washcloth tonight. I think we will gradually switch him back to the sensitive, it seemed to give him the least trouble and I think he may like the taste of it the best.
