Aubrey went to the Pedi on Thursday. Her spitup was still so painful and discomforting to her even on the Zantac. I told him how I have tried everything I can think of in switching formulas, decreasing amount, increasing amount, burping every ounce, and on and on. So he switched her to Prevacid. I do like the Prevacid much better in that it is a dissolvable tablet and she seems to like it taste wise. She hated the Zantac and I tasted it myself and can see why, YUCK!! Today is only day two and I have noticed a slight difference in the spit not bothering her and her choking fits seem to be less. Really hoping this one does the trick so she can be comfortable. I have accepted her constant spit up and all the laundry and I am fine with all that just as long as she is not in pain.
She has been constipated for about a week now. With solid painful poops. I am sure it is from the formula switch and cereal amount adjusting(I know, I know on the cereal but if she has a pure formula bottle she spits up every single burp and then has projectile vomiting so the Pedi agreed that it was doing her good) that was going on for past 2 weeks and I am hoping now that it is all ironed out she will get regular again. I tried a couple home remedy type things like sticking a Vaseline thermometer in her butt as I read online about all the success with that but no luck. Finally did a suppository and oh the poop that came out!! She was like a brand new baby after that. I could literally see the relief in her eyes once she pooped and then she slept her best nap ever for 3 1/2 hours!
I am curious what are your remedies for constipation? I don't want to use the suppositories if I don't have to. I read about prune juice but I am worried it will make her tummy hurt and no poop.
With Jocelyn, we mixed a baby spoon size of Miralax into a couple of her bottles a day on recommendation from her pediatrician. Of course you would want to double check with your pediatrician and let them know before you do that. But it really helped her a lot and it might be something to ask about if she gets constipated a lot.
Jocelyn Gabriel Grayson and due in September!
