Now that I am back at work for an extended period I am trying to pump only 1 or 2 times each day. I generally nurse between 7:30 and 8:00 and then pump at 12:00 (getting 7-9 ounces). If I pump agsin at 3:00. it is like 4 ounces.

1) When I am home Elli eats more often (does not go from 8-12). Is it OK to pump less as long as I pump the 7-9 ounces at one setting (I hope this won't decrease)? I often have meetings or Court, so it is hard to pump every 2-3 hours. I want to make sure I will keep my supply.

2) My afternoon or evening pumps are always less. Do we just make less at night? Does this mean out little ones get less at night than in the morning? Is that why they want to eat all evening? Anyway to increase evening amount?

1. Eventually it will decrease. In my experience, around 6 months the amount I could pump at work at a sitting dipped. If possible most days, can you try to pump close to her nursing schedule?

2. Yes production decreases in the afternoon and evening. So if you ever feel the need to make up for lower production, you could always wake up in the middle of the night to pump

Kim I am pumping on pretty much the same schedule. I just don't have a chance to pump at work more than once, and it's typically while I'm driving from one site to the next. Yes, I pump and drive. I fear the day I get pulled over while pumping. I feed Morgan around 7am before she goes to my MIL's. She does not eat much during the day, which kind of worries me (she'll typically only take two 4oz bottles between 7am and 4 or 5pm). I pump around lunch time and then again on my way home around 4:00. I also get up once during the night to pump or else I am completely engorged and sore in the morning. I pump way more than Morgan eats at this point, but I'm also afraid that at some point it will drop and I won't have enough. It's a catch-22.
