I will stay with a painful letdown throughout nursing - and I nursed my second son until 18 months! It's worse in the morning, when I'm more full, but will still hurt other times, and even when it's the second let down of the nursing session.
Mine is starting to ease up, thank freaking goodness, because at one point it was painful enough to almost make me cry. It's still a bit tender, and every once in a while I'll have a bad one. I'm hoping it even out soon.
mine is painful. it used to be painful for about 6-8 weeks in the nipple area and now the past couple weeks it is really painful around the ducts that are letting down..sometimes on the sides, sometimes just on the bottom, etc
