Yep, I got it and while on vacation no less. I had a big clogged duct last week and just couldn't get it cleared. Two days ago it started hurting when nursing. Then that night I had chills and body aches, plus excruciating pain when Henry ate. When I woke up yesterday I felt like I got hit by a truck and I knew exactly what it was. DH took me to urgent care so I could get antibiotics. The doctor was really nice and very supportive of breastfeeding. The nurse that took all of my info beforehand was the world's least helpful nurse ever.
Nurse: Have you ever been diagnosed with anything?
Me: Uh.. Nothing serious. (Really lady? I'm 31, so yeah I've had plenty of diagnoses)
Nurse: When was your last period?
Me: September 2012
Nurse: What?!? Are you taking anything for that?
Me: (pointing at Henry) No... I was pregnant and then had a baby
Nurse: And how old is he?
Me: 2 months
Nurse: And you still haven't gotten your period yet?!?
DH: She's breastfeeding (I told her I was there for mastitis so clearly she had no idea how that works)
Today I feel so much better now that I've gotten some antibiotics. My boob still feels bruised but I don't feel like death.
I'm so sorry! I hope it gets completely cleared up really soon! I got mastitis when I was out of town and had to go to a random urgent care place also. When I told the nurse I was there for mastitis, she asked me what it was... Don't know that those kinds of places have the most knowledgeable nurses... Take care of yourself! Hugs!
