So I am breastfeeding and I was under the assumption I may not get AF back for at last 6 months or more. I got my first AF for 4 days around week 8 (beginning of Aug). Then I got AF for 3 days Aug 17-19, now I am day 8 of another "cycle"....my body is ALL out of whack I guess. Oy vey. This is irritating.

Does your baby sleep pretty good at night? I read somewhere that if you're nursing around the clock then it'll hold off your period longer, but if your baby sleeps through the night your period will come back quicker. But even that's not a 100% guarantee, everyone is different. Some people don't get it back for a year, others get it the first month after the baby is born, regardless of breastfeeding.

I thought I was getting mine. Over the last week or so I've had 3 days (not all in a row though) where I've had a tiny bit of spotting...but then it goes away. Keeps gearing me up for a period and then, nope! No idea what's going on with mine. And I have absolutely no recollection of when it came back after my first was born, so I don't even have that for reference.

Oh, that stinks. In order to suppress fertility, baby must be nursed on demand, have access to the breast 24/7 (cosleeping is usually encouraged) and not use any pacifiers, bottles, or be separated from mom. When those rules are followed, most women get at least 6 months without cycles returning. But there are always those who will not get that long. I've gotten anywhere from 15 months to 21 months before my first PPAF, so I'm really fortunate.

I keep getting cramps and expect it to some, but nothing yet. I'm really surprised because DD sleeps through the night and I'm at work for about 9 hours a day.

Nothing here yet but of course I had ppb for a full 10 weeks. I am also on the minipill. With bfing and the minipill I usually go 1 year.

Trey cosleeps in the bed with us and he wakes up still 2-3 times at night. He is also on the boob anytime he starts fussing, crying, searching for it or sticking his hand in his mouth. (MIL says I spoil him with the boob *smh*)
My dr states I am just very fertile as my cycles were always perfect.....never really late or too short/too long and at one point she had me come in and said I was ovulating which I didn't think you did while breastfeeding...hence why it can be a "good" birth control (still no DTD yet here as I have just been very tired and we cosleep)
I thought it was ending as I didn't have anything from 7pm until 10am but then about 10:15ish this morning it picked back up.
I heard when some get their AF back it lasts more than a week and then they don't see it again for MONTHS but so far I have had it somewhat twice (not full 7 days) in August and now I am on day 9 of this cycle. Really no cramps except when nursing (which I didn't really get while nursing after delivery like they say you'll probably get) and I am terribly dizzy/light headed so I am having to take my iron pills again and even that isn't helping.

Like I said, we aren't even DTD yet (haven't since about 7 mths pregnant...I was very uncomfortable and then contractions on top of that) and now I am just too tired, co-sleeping and hormones EVERYWHERE lol.

Also, we are still living with the in laws, i had to quit my job due to no child care/daycare (if I paid for it out of my own check...I would get paid NOTHING between insurance, child support on my first kid and student loans) so I am trying to find a night job and once we get out on our own, we will talk about trying for another

Exhaustion can be the best form of birth control.

How DS2 was conceived - I have no idea.

I didn't get AF back until M was over a year old. I only had like 3 AFs before getting pregnant with G.

I'm taking no chances though... getting an IUD placed in a few weeks!!

Sucks that AF returned so soon I'd be super annoyed. It happens though. I think lactational amenorrhea is like 80% effective, but that means it fails for 1 in 5 couples.

I've been bleeding for almost 2 weeks straight. Not sure if its AF. Very light. Tampons are so uncomfortable for me. I had an IUD placed a month ago. I think it's due to that. Not sure.

I was EBF with a bottle of BM here and there and nursing once a night and AF showed after 8 months with Hailey. I continued to nurse till she was 13 months when she weaned herself. I was also a month pg with Zack at that time. I've had a couple of cramping episodes and thought she was returning but thank goodness she has stayed away!

QFT.

I have gotten pregnant twice without even having a period (once at about 14 months post-partum, once at about 20 months).

Even while covered by LAM you want to be watching for other signs if you are TTA and not using birth control.

Just got AF back today I'm super sad. I ebf, and let him suckle pretty much whenever he wants to. I give bottles two days a week when I go to church and baby stays home with daddy, and baby sleeps through the night. I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones who doesn't get a long time with no AF

OK so it stopped the 10th and now I started spotting again today. Seriously, this every 2-3 weeks crap has to stop. I no longer have insurance or medicaid so I can't go to dr to see if there is an underlying reason as to why I am not getting my cycle normally...like I had. Maybe I should just start the mini pill to possibly regulate my cycle but again no insurance so I can't really afford the mini pill without insurance.

There may be some inexpensive minipills - I know somw generic pills are like $10. You may want to ask at a clinic.

When AF was returning with Everett I just bled without stopping. My hormones were so out of whack. I had to take provera to stop the bleeding and reset my body. It worked. Everett was almost a year old though and I got pregnant the next cycle

You know Teresa since you aren't working and only Alan is working if you need insurance you probably are eligible for help from the state or county with insurance.

I am eligible but I have to send in a gazillion things for the application, paystubs, bank statements, income reports, social, license, bills for proof of where i live, etc so it is easier to go up to the office to do that but the only office for that is 35 min away and hard to do when i have no car and we can't get an appointment time that works around DH's schedule to go up there with me or for me to borrow his car.
