Henry's swing and bouncy seat are the only things that have music on them, but we don't play it that often.
Henry doesn't really respond to music around the house. He has to listen to a wide variety: country from DH, Abri banging on the piano and "singing" nonsense at the top of her lungs, pop in the car with me.
He does really like when I sing Head, Shoulders, Knees, Toes, but does not like Itsy Bitsy Spider
He likes it when I sing to him, especially when I incorporate his vocalizations into made up little tunes. But in general he is often bombarded with DD turning on every noise-making toy we have simultaneously (we only have a few, but still) and then she dances around lol. He gets mildly overstimulated by all that sometimes. DD is a party animal haha.
Finnegan loves when I sing to him, mostly silly little songs and lullabies. He doesn't like the music on his swing, he prefers the water sounds that it makes - kind of like a fountain or babbling brook noise.
Every night we listen to a CD called Stardreamer, by Priscilla Herdman. My mom first got the cassette tape for me when I was 5 years old, and I listened to it thousands of times growing up. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with DD I bought the CD. Now both kids go to sleep to it every night. It's the prettiest music, and despite listening to it every single night, I never get tired of it. If you haven't heard it, you should check it out. You can listen to samples of it here: Priscilla Herdman | Stardreamer: Nightsongs & Lullabies | CD Baby Music Store I would recommend it to any parent.
Tristan has several musical toys. We feel that musical toys are important even though they may annoy us lol.
We are a family that listens to just about everything. And so far Tristan has shown a preference for 80s music, especially hair bands. Odd I know!! DD loves anything current but not lil man. DH really had the lil guy squealing and cooing one night and boogieing to Warrant and Cinderella and Poison one night. It was hilarious that he already has developed his own music tastes and he knows what he likes!!
McKinley loves when people sing to her...even made up nonsense that the older kids sing to her. Really she just likes any music...I plug my iPod into our home speaker system and play all sorts of stuff from classic rock, 80's hair bands, and metal to old country, reggae, and dance pop. She loves it all and will kick and flop her arms around all excited like.
