I have recently discovered that Aidan has a lip tie.. It has been increasingly painful for me to nurse him and he actually caused a nipple to bleed the other night. I went to the breastfeeding board for help, where I was asked to share a picture of his top lip flanged and yes indeed he has a lip tie. I'm so happy to know that this pain is not normal and it's not my fault. We already have an appointment next week so I will be discussing it with his doctor and if she can't assess properly, I will find an IBCLC to ***** and take the necessary steps from there to have it corrected.

Anyway, my point in posting was curiosity about anyone else here having dealt with this before.

I've dealt with two tongue ties before but not a lip tie. Henry's tongue tie was excruciating for me to nurse him. My guess is that you'll get a referral to an ENT, and if you don't then demand it anyway. Hopefully an ENT can clip it, but I have heard of some that won't do a lip tie. If that's the case, a pediatric dentist can be your next stop. Good luck!!

I know for sure the girls both have a lip tie. Their pedi said it was the cause of them both having the gap in their front teeth. Hailey's has closed up though but Madison's has gotten bigger. They said it isn't major to get it clipped so we are going to wait a bit before doing it. Not sure if Zack has one too.
