I'm new here, but I'm in the January 2013 DDC. I am 36. My husband and I tried for just over a year before I got pregnant. This is what changed.
During the year I tried from May 2010-May 2011 (we took a 10 month break from trying afterwards cause it was too stressful for me and I wanted to focus on getting in shape and not obsess about symptoms) I was about 5-10% over my healthy bodyweight. Yep, just about 10-15 pounds over weight. I weighed 145 and my norm is about 130-133. I FIRMLY BELIEVE that getting in shape over the year that I took off TTC is what made me conceive the 2nd month we tried this time around, in april 2012. And we BARELY TRIED MIND YOU!!!!
During the year of TTC I tried EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!! Perfect timing, OV strips, egg white, pre-seed, crazy positions, trying to get extra romantic, took temperatures, got DH's sperm tested, bought the Clear Blue Easy monitor (used it toward the end of my TTC year twice and it actually was very helpful compared to OPKs in figuring out my ACTUAL ovu dates)..... And then I had had it. We would BD 3-6 times during the week of "trying" or around then.
The month I got pregnant this year we only did it ONE TIME. And it was 4-5 days prior to Ovulation! (I still got a boy though )
My EWCM had been off every since I turned about 33. It was one of the things that clued me in to my hormones being out of whack from being out of shape. I used to ALWAYS get EWCM during ovulation. At age 34 I hardly had any anymore, maybe none. The first thing I noticed after a few months of beginning my running routine was my EWCM came back!!!!!
I swear that getting back into shape, eating a whole lot healthier, and losing 13 pounds assisted me in getting pregnant so fast the next time we barely tried. I only took time off because TTC was so very obsessive and stressful and upsetting to me. The only way I could turn my brain off from *secretly* thinking about symptoms was to use condoms again and then I would KNOW I was not pregnant and I could use my energy focusing on school and fitness and music and art.
A year later, 13 pounds lighter, in a month where we only BD'd ONE TIME in 3 weeks, I got pregnant! I highly suggest helping your health and your hormones out with some exercise (3-4 times a week for 30 mins to an hour) and a lot of veggies, and whole grains- less sugar ( don't get me wrong I still LOVE my sugar!) and hardly ANY white flour! good luck.
I just stopped temping. I think charting stressed me out. I was pregnant 3 times last year. The first time I conceived Nov 2010, just relaxed and checked CM. Had sex maybe 3 times.
After that miscarriage, I tried after 3 months in April. Had sex once on our anniversary, pregnant, and miscarriage. Then it was like one more cycle. I had some stretchy cm, didn't really feel like having sex, but wanted to try once. Pregnant! That one was the keeper.
I had a girl even though we BD just hours before ovulation. My cm was cloudy, and someone said that cloudy/creamy/ew cm was good for conceiving girls. The strait up clear/ewcm was good for conceiving boys. Good to know. Might give me a better chance of seeing blue next time.
