I can't believe I've been on here since April and I never made one of these!
Ah, well. Better late than never, eh?
First off: My name is Katie. I'm 25, and I've been married to DH (26), whom I affectionately call "Husbear" (on the web and in real life, haha) since March 22nd, 2008. We eloped (sort of- we invited immediate family) to a small bed & breakfast in the mountains of New Hampshire and exchanged vows in front of a roaring fireplace during a snowy sunset. It was perfect.
We've lived a beautiful little life on the top floor of a Brooklyn, NYC brownstone for the last four years. This spring, Husbear was accepted to a medical school in the hills of gorgeous West Virginia, so we're making big changes in our life.
Back in NYC, I was a nanny for a wonderful little boy who was my whole world. It was heartbreaking to say goodbye, but Husbear suggested the move might be easier on me if we started trying for our own little "cub". Seeing as I most likely won't be able to work while we're down there, I'll have plenty of time and won't have to worry about maternity leave or any such things. Also, Husbear's brother is a doctor already and told us the best time to start our family was in medical school, because while it's very hard, it's nothing like the stress or time commitment he'll be dealing with once school is over and real life starts.
I was never on the bcp (we always used "pull & pray", haha), so I didn't have an adjustment phase or anything.
Our first month, we just bd'd like crazy, and burned out too early. Our second month I temped and used OPKs, but they overtook my life, so we nixed them. Our third month we used relaxation and aromatherapy. Our fourth month we were in Europe, and tried a bit but were just too dang busy/tired/jet lagged to keep up with it!
And here we are, on CD15 of our 5th month.
We use pre-seed and a calendar, and we bd whenever we can (I think we've been more on the ball *heheh* than usual about our timing this month), even more when I notice EWCM. I mostly try to steer my thoughts away from negativity and concern. My OB always said just have fun, relax, enjoy the ride, so that's what we're doing. I wouldn't say we're NTNP, because we're definitely trying, just in our own way.
It's been a little interesting, as we're currently living with my MIL in Michigan until our move date, August 1 (coincidentally, testing day!). I can't wait to be sleeping on our own mattress in the privacy of our own home! But for now, I'm grateful for the hospitality and generosity of my MIL- and I'm seriously hoping there's something to that old superstition that says you'll get preggers if you bd at the in-laws' house, haha.
So I guess that's the full story, for now. I hope I'll be good at updating this thing.
Thanks for all of your encouragement and advice over the last few months. I couldn't have stayed sane without you JM ladies!
*Current status: Had EWCM on CD12,13,14. BD'd on CD11,13,14. No EWCM today- hope we caught it yesterday! (And even though I'm not temping, I still post my stats in FF, so feel free to check my ticker for info!)
thanks to SamuelsMommy for my perfect siggy!
