Hi Ladies,
Has anyone had any issues with the way the penis healed after a circumcision?

I don't remember having any problem with my boys healing after circumcision. Each one took a different length of time healing. I just made sure to put tons of A&D or vaseline in their diaper to make sure there was no friction happening.

When they did Nicholas the doc who did it didn't put enough vaseline (or whatever it is that they use) on him and the gauze they wrapped him in pasted itself to his penis. It was seriously stuck. I had to take him into the health nurse and she soaked it in salt water and basically had to rip it off. Thankfully, it didn't hurt him and he healed properly.

My doc didn't use gauze. They did the circ and then put this plastic ring thing on it that after a few days fell off on its own. All he had over that was a very well lubricated diaper.

Bryce's healed pretty good but not on one side some of the excess skinned fused to his 'hood'. The ped said we will monitor it to make sure 1, there are no pockets that could potentially lead to an infection and 2, to see if as he grows the skin 'relieves' itself.
It's not very noticeable, one of those things a mom can see. Even DH couldn't tell until I pointed out. The topic is super sensitive because a very close friend of ours son had to have surgery 2 times because his skin fused completely over his hole not allowing him to pee. So I guess I was on watch for any signs and saw my LO had fused a little bit. However not as extreme as my friends 9 month old.

I'd be a little worried, too. I hope it turns out to be nothing!

The doc who did my oldest used the plastic ring, too. All docs should use it, it's so much easier and better for them IMO.

Yea its called a plasti-bell circ, that's what my LO got too. It was so much easier to deal with than the other procedures my nephews got.

My 3 year old's circ was not very good....he has alot of excess skin and we went to the DR several times to have them check it. Part of the skin was growing back onto the penis---kind of hard to describe. We had to make sure to separate all of the folds at bath time and put creme on it 1-2 times a day. It is MUCH better now.

I think I get what you are describing. I will try that around bath time.

My sons circ went very well and we didn't have any issues with it. We are pg with DS#2 right now and also plan to get him circ'd, now we were going to use a different doctor than who did Ethan but my newest little nephew who is 2 months old had his done by the doctor we were going to change to and honestly I feel she didn't do a good job if that makes sense, sad that I did this but after changing my nephews diaper the other day I kept in mind what ethans looked like vs my nephew Jaydon and there is a pretty big difference and to me Jaydons doesn't look right, he still seems to have alot of foreskin, whereas Ethan to me looks like a circ'd one should IMO. So now we are going to go back to the doc we had do Ethan's since I don't feel the new one does them right. (we were going to goto the new one since she charges about $75 less than the other one but I would prefer his look like it should and pay for it to look "right" than to save money and have him look different than Ethan and IMO not look "right") sorry for rambling

Aidan had the plasti-bell circ as well..It healed fine looked nice, until about a month after he got it done I went to change his diaper and his head was gone, looked like an uncirc'd peepee. I was soo scared, I seriously looked all over the diaper..And than I pushed the skin back and there it was. I kept asking the drs if it was ok and they said he'll go into it. I asked him new pedi the same thing, and she said it looks good, and that once he starts to mature it will be ok. So I'm not worried anymore. But it's a pain because I'm dealing with a circ penis, but have to handle it like an uncirc because i have to pull the skin back and clean it. And sometimes it looks sooo small..my poor baby
