I read this morning that an 8 year old boy was suspended from school for using his fingers as a gun. Has this gone too far? Was the school right? Don't all boys do that? WDYT?

Let boys be boys. They play cowboys and cops and robbers. Unless he was pointing his fingers and threatening to hurt the other boy l think the school took it too far.

I think the school took it too far, as well. My boys will (and always have) pick up anything and use it as a gun. I think it's instinct. LOL Just like making car sounds.

I agree, I think they took it too far. If boys don't have play guns they will make a gun out of anything. My Dh still has a stick he played with when he was a kid pretending it was a gun. lol

Yup. I'll sing with the choir. Some of these school "experts" seem completely clueless about normal child development.

I was one of those idealistic young moms who didn't allow toy weapons when I had my first son. He chewed his toast into guns and grew up to be my brave Soldier who would be in Afghanistan right now if his unit hadn't been pulled at the last minute.

I play Nerf Guns with my second son and he's so well armed that he can easily protect my whole town from a Nerf Zombie Apocalypse singlehandedly if he ever has to.
