DH just texted me to find out when the animal control officer is at the pound. This, probably, means we are getting a new dog.

haha. We have 2 and my MIL that lives with us has 1, but there's been up to 5 living with us at a time! DH found out that I just can't handle that many dogs, so we've peared down.

Well, he came home with a tag, but no dog (my first thought was, great now we have to tag the husbands too? LOL). She is at the vet today getting fixed so we'll get her tomorrow. He says she an apricot poodle. I never considered myself a poodle kind of girl, but we'll see. lol.

I bet she's really cute. I think apricot is my favourite colour of poodle. They're smart, loyal, sensitive dogs who usually win prizes at obedience trials even though they do get unfairly stereotyped as fashion accessories for the foolish and frivolous. You can get different clips for them so that they don't look so silly or take so much time to groom.

That said, I sympathize. After I rehomed the last cats, I decided no more pets absolutely not no way no how not worth it.

Your dh is lucky to have a wife who is so understanding. I hope you enjoy your new fur baby and that she isn't too terribly needy. Rescue dogs make the best pets once they settle in.

LMBO! I was just telling Kolby that I was going to get her bows for her ears, paint her toenails and get her sweaters and tutus! He frowned. I looked up the apricot poodle and they do look adorable. Maybe won't show dirt so fast.

Good luck with her! I've never owned a poodle. I always have dogs that have short hair and little grooming required.

She's a mess! It's not her fault; she was a stray and I have no idea how long she was at the pound. Flea-ridden, her fur is matted, it stinks and I can't give her a bath until her stitches come out! We've tried dry shampoo, and 'cologne' peeeyuuu. Any suggestions on how to bathe her without getting her sutures wet? Oh, BTW, she is so sweet and adorable despite the stench; my cats are actually tolerating and her name is Gigi.

You might take her to get her shaved and then you can use some of the wipes that are used for cleaning them. If her hair is all matted, it might be easier to cut it than try to de-mat it.

We took her back to the vet for her 'real' shots and a flea dip, then today we took her to the groomer. It took over 3 hours, but it was well worth it! She feels so much better.

She does! The only bad thing is it got really cold and she freezes when she goes outside. We got her a sweater but I told DH she needs booties. LOL!
