What will be the hardest thing for you to give up during your pregnancy?

For me, I am a diet pepsi LOVER! It's bad. So going down to only 1 can of diet pepsi a day will be my challenge and with that drinking WAY more water is something I will struggle with but of course will do because it's what baby needs!

I gave up pop and caffeine when TTC. MY OB said that the aspartame in diet pop is actually worse than caffeine during pregnancy and that the aspartame passes directly to the placenta. So, if I have an extreme pop fix, I'll be drinking diet rite. Aspartame is in a lot, pretty much every diet pop other than diet rite and diet coke with splenda. Boo - they need to fix that

I dont really have to make too many adjustments. I just finished a 13 month breastfeeding stint so between that and the 9 1/2 months of pregnancy that preceeded it I've been restricted for so long that it doesnt even phase me. i guess i will miss raw sushi the most .

I've given up pretty much everything that I need to...except Coke. Ugh, I want to give it up so bad since I'm trying to be healthier but it keeps drawing me back in! I'm drinking one right now!

I pretty much gave up coffee a year ago while TTC. I still miss it a lot though I think I will miss having a few alcoholic beverages here and there. I also LOVE sushi, but we don't eat much of it as is.

Raw milk. It helps my stomach quite a bit (I have IBS), but the listeria risk is too great during pregnancy and I'd never forgive myself if I got sick from it. Actually, it's tied between that and raw fish sushi.

BEER! I don't drink to get drunk, but I have to have a beer pretty much every day of the week. I miss all the different kinds and flavors...

Well, I'm not giving up coffee. But I will miss getting a big old Starbucks on sluggish days when I just want to get a bunch of stuff done. I miss having the "manic" option.

I know there may be days when I miss alcohol, but I haven't hit one yet. I had a week of indulging early and extra when my son stopped nursing in the evening, and then we started TTC right after that. So my alcohol intake has been mostly zero to light for a long time.

Blue Cheese is my all-time favorite thing.

BUT - -I read it is OK as long as it is pasteurized - - time to read some labels
chessalove likes this.

I think I am going to have my first "missing alcohol" moment tomorrow night.

I gave it up for IVF, so haven't had any on a while, and while I don't miss it, we have a double baby shower/goodbye party at my manager's house for two colleagues who are due in early Jan (due the same week too) and all our work parties usually involve a lot of wine, and man, I think I am going to go and hang out with the two pregnant ladies all night, because the temptation will be strong.

Wine. I have a drink every night and more at social occasions. I strongly suspect my lack of drinking will be friends/family's first tip-off to this pregnancy. It always has in the past.

And sushi. Definitely sushi.
