i'm a nervous wreck! this is almost exactly the point i was last pregnancy when i found out by u/s that my baby stopped developing at 8 weeks. after today, i think i can breathe a sigh of relief. first i have to get through the workday. i am normally headstrong and independent, but i asked DH to find a babysitter and come with me. i'll update tonight!

Good luck later today! How could you *not* be a nervous wreck? I'm glad DH can go with you and hope you can keep yourself busy enough at work to pass the time without obsessing too much (ha! easier said than done). But you're going to be okay. This pregnancy is so unlike your loss. You should remember that (a) things were going well at your scan just a few weeks ago and (b) all your pregnancy symptoms are much, much, much more in line with a healthy pregnancy than they were with your loss. You've been miserable! awful! I have a good feeling about today's scan and hope it will put your mind at ease. Let us know how it goes!

p.s. My PhD is in bioengineering.

thank you so much!!! i know all of that (and my mom told me the same things on the phone last night), but it's hard not to worry. i'm just thankful to still be on my zoloft. otherwise, i'd really be crazy! i've often been told that my intelligence is my weakness - i over-think, over-research, and over-analyze everything! it makes me good at my job but also makes me a lil nutso.

very cool PhD. i defended back in 2008. i kinda miss school and have been thinking about going back for my MBA. now that's crazy, right?!

Of course you're going to worry and over-think things. That's natural for any expecting mother, but especially bad when you're used to doing it as a job. My first scan is this coming Monday (at 9wks) and I'm proud of myself for keeping it under control so far, but it's just a matter of time until I start freaking out. I feel crappy enough that I can't worry too much because I have limited brain power these days.

I also defended in 2008! And then did a postdoc for a year and a half before starting my faculty position. I don't think an MBA sounds so crazy...

I want to stalk a Biomed engineer. If I had the brains, I would have loved to be a biomed engineer. I don't know if I would focus on tissue, neuro, genetics, or pharm though. My life has been improved so much over the years by the advances made. I wish I could have been a part of all that amazing work-and all that is still to come.

My appt was great! I'll post a pic tomorrow. For now I'm exhausted. Baby is perfect - measuring 10 weeks exactly, HB 140, and moving all over!
