Speaking of rate has got me thinking about the correlation of heart rate and gender---

I'll find out the gender on the 26th, but so far the heart rate has been in the 140's

What has the average heart rate been for the babe in your belly?? And the gender??

Let's see if this old wives tale has any truth behind it!

There was a study that looked at 10,000 fetal heart rates and the associated genders and found no correlation between the two. The data is interesting:
Sex, Heart Rate, and Age - hcp.obgyn.net

But the old wives tales are fun so hopefully others will comment.

mine in 139, and it's a boy so it does fit the old wives tale, even if it's just happenstance!

I will let you all know on the 3rd of March, that is when we will have our reveal party.. that is if Bug want to be known. But so far it is 154... so it is right in the middle.. my dr. likes to play along according to that old wives tale.. but she won't even guess b.c it is so close. Plus, she knows we would really like a girl..we don't want to think about it yet..

T was always high 150's and she was a girl. This one has been 155, 136 and 146. So we'll see if the lower rates have any meaning

So far my kids followed the old wives tale (as I've heard it, higher = girl). DD was in the 160s, at least at the beginning. This kid is a boy and has been in the 140s.

This one was high 150s, low 160s for a while but was 132 at the gender ultrasound (boy). But both Nathaniel and Norah had low heart rates and had different genders.

My dd always had high rate in the 170's. this baby has been high 140's or low 150's but we're not finding out gender. Wives tale would say boy!

Hers has been anywhere from 170s to 140s. Both my boys were always around 150s or 160s.

At my u/s the other day this little girl's hb was 174 which was the highest it has been the entire pregnancy. The oj I drank right before probably helped that some.
