I just remembered today that I have some new cloth diapers that I need to prep before we can use them. Basically you have to wash diapers (more importantly the inserts) 3-6 times before using them. This helps them become more absorbent and get rid of whatever may be on the them from when they were being manufactured.

That's a good reminder..I have 18 New diapers coming in the mail so I'll need to remember to do this!

Great reminder also remember don't prep your natural and synthetic diapers/inserts together, the oils in the natural fibers will make the synthetic less absorbent I almost forgot a couple weeks ago.

You can also boil your inserts for about 20-30 min and be done with it all and save some time I never prep mine, just do a normal wash on them and I have never had an issue. I just do a regular wash with my cloth diapers like normal, then the diaper goes OTB (on the bum).

Question.... on the boiling part, can you do that with diapers that have snaps? If so do you boil then wash?

I didn't know they needed prepping - I don't think I've ever read that. Of course there's such an overwhelming amount of information out there about cloth diapering it's hard to sift through even the basics. Good to know
