I keep reading posts about shy babies who won't show the goods at the ultrasound. We only get one shot at this so..... Any suggestions as to what I could bring with me to get a stubborn baby grooving, if need be (other than orange juice)?

When I had my elective at 15 weeks I was told to drink an iced coffee about 45 mins before my appt. The tech saw gender right away! Also I was told to drink more water than I usually do for 3-4 days prior as it will make the amniotic fluid as clear as possible. Good luck!!

Ice water makes baby squirm. Mine was having a snooze with clenched fists and the tech wanted to see the hands properly, so he gave me some ice water and that woke her up.

With DD I drank cold cranberry juice cocktail & this time just ice water. Anything cold or sugary could help.

Ice cream does it to mine every time.

I drink hot tea (decaf) throughout the day, and that seems to make him snooze.

Anything with caffeine would work. A soda or a small cup of coffee would definitely get baby moving. I didn't do anything special for my ultrasound though and we were able to see the goods right away. The ultrasound was also able to poke the baby to get him to move where she wanted. lol

Both ultrasounds I had, I didn't have to do anything special, he was showing it all right away. But, in general, anything sugary gets him moving.

Oh no coffee I'll drink up the apple juice. Hopefully they can get a good look and measure everything they need to. Thanks!

I drank some OJ and she was bouncing around like crazy but not until I kept getting up to pee and being tipped on the table did she uncross her knees.

Sometimes they just prefer a position, my little one always liked to face my back

They do recommend having a sugary ice cold drink if non diabetic

i had a cold soda (caffeine) an hour before mine. no help! the tech had me move around, poked my belly, had my cough. she eventually got the money shot, but baby was uncooperative. must have been his sleepy time of day!
