One of my least favourite things about my last pregnancy was when I would wake up in the middle of the night and my calf muscle would seize up in a brutal cramp....so painful! Well last night it happened for the first time this pregnancy. I need to try to stretch before bed and see if that helps and drink a lot of water. Anyone else deal with these?

Yes!!
And I got the worst one last night too!
They are SOO painful!!
I got a few earlier in my pregnancy and it had been awhile since I got one--so I was hoping they were over...but nope!
I hate how the next day--your leg hurts all day. Only 14 more weeks!!

Funny that you say this today.... This morning I had the start of one.. I usually get them when I would really work out... Me personally I just massage it out when I first feel it. It normally doesn't happen while I'm asleep.. Just the minute I wake up.

Oh and try upping your water intake.. It might help you as well

Have you tried drinking an electrolyte mix before going to bed? Maybe coconut water? The magnesium/sodium/potassium always helps prevent leg cramps for me.

Oh & if you flex your foot/toes toward your face during the cramp it will immediately stop it!

i've had these every night since very early on in my pregnancy. my midwife recently told me to take a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement daily and i haven't had a single cramp since!! it definitely works! make sure the supplement has at least 100%-120% of your daily dose of calcium/magnesium/zinc. the store i went to didn't have zinc added to the combo (just calcium/magnesium with vitamin D as well, i think), so i bought that plus a zinc supplement and just take them both. good luck!

My doc recommended coconut water to me too! I've been adding it to my green smoothies in the morning and it's been helping tons!!!

Yes, a few times. Only this pregnancy though, not the first one.

Wow, lots of advice here. Cool!

yep i get them a couple times a night, i automatically stretch my toes to my head and it knocks it off. i should probably take a supplement or eat a banana for that, super annoying especially when they happen mid good feeling stretch.

Yes. I actually am fearful OF going to sleep because of these, a jolt out of the blue sometimes BOTH legs!

I had a dream about them, so real to the point I woke up wondering if I had them for real or not

IMO my worse pg symptom ever

I get them really badly. Try increasing your potassium intake as others said. Mine will wake me from a dead sleep. I have been getting them in my darn TOES during the day. That is PAINFUL.
