My husband and I both like classic names and this morning he got really enthusiastic and kept talking about how much he liked Gertrude as a name. I was trying to be polite, so I asked him whether he didn't think it was, perhaps, a bit *too* old fashioned? But he kept on insisting we could call her "Gertie" for short and Gertrude was so pretty and he just loved it.
M DH did the same thing, he suggested Amelie as we both love the movie.
Now don't get me wrong, it's a lovely name, however, paired with our heavy Italian surname it just sounds wrong. He kept it up for a while before he said "I also like Bertha" and then I clicked as to what was going on.
