I'm sure this is another 'it is different for everyone' thing, and that's alright. I'm just looking for a general idea. What is normal to experience after a cervical check?

Better to know its probably nothing than to think something might be happening, right. Bleh. The cramps have already begun.

I've heard a chemical in semen softens the cervix. Did they say if you were firm or not? Fortunately I've only had cramps

They didn't tell me if I was firm. We are working on softening it up TMI but this is the first time since we conceived Ive even remotely been interested in semen or dtd. LOL

You're better than I in that department for sure. But then, I don't think he has been interested either. Have you looked in to evening primrose oil at all?

Here in the UK they do not do them unless you are full term or need inducing early for medical reasons. Cervical checks can cause the membranes to rupture and in some cases even waters to leak.

I must have the most careful doctor ever - I haven't spotted or cramped at all after my cervical checks, and they have been doing them every Monday for 3wks now.

I've also never had anything after a cervical check, and I've had then for the past 4 weeks! Yesterday he stripped my membranes (ouch!!!) and that caused some cramping. Unfortunately no signs of labor yet.

I didn't really have anything happen after my 36-39 week checks when I was pregnant with my son but after my check at 40 weeks I was suuuuper crampy and spotted. I went into labor that night. I suspect that my OB stripped my membranes without telling me or was a little more rough than normal.

I hate those cervical checks. I am using midwives now and they won't do one until 40 weeks.

I've had lots of checks in the past 9 days. And not once have I had any problems with them.

Well the check itself was worse than the aftermath, neither being bad at all. I'm glad. Still not doing it again though! Way too uncomfortable (emotionally).

That's horrible! And would be a violation of your rights if he did it without asking!

I've only had one check so far and nothing happened afterward. When I had checks with my DD I didn't have any spotting or cramps then either until he did the membrane sweep at my 41 week appointment.

ya spotting can happen and also cramps, in some cases prelabor.

I am pink spotting now every time after DTD also but I know that its all normal and when my body is ready to go into labor it will.

My doctor checks me every so often.. And I feel fine. However, I'm not dilating so maybe that has something to do with it. But after DtD, I have a lot of BH though.
