I don't know who may or may not remember, but at my 39 week appt last week the dr said he was concerned at my lack of weight gain and that the baby wasn't measuring bigger in terms of fundal height. So, we scheduled an ultrasound.

Went to the ultrasound and the tech looked at me surprised when I said the dr didn't think I was measuring big enough and said "really?" LOL. He scans me and in the end estimates the baby to be 7lbs 10oz give or take 10% (DD was only 7lbs 15oz at birth at 41+1).

The doctor called me later in the evening to assure me that everything is fine and I just must not be gaining weight because of the gestational diabetes diet, because the baby is clearing getting nutrients and I'm probably just losing some of the excess weight I started with pre-pregnancy. Well, I wasn't planning on leaving this pregnancy lighter than I started it out, but I'll take it as long as baby is happy and healthy!

That being said, induction is on the table for next week. Due date is Thursday, July 25 but because of the risks associated with the diabetes (even though my numbers have been good, there's obviously been NO excessive weight gain, etc) he doesn't really want me "going much past the due date"...ugh.

So, I'm trying to get baby to come out this weekend, I guess! I'd really prefer to go into labor on my own than have a medical induction. I requested we do a membrane sweep on Monday if nothing happens by then before we jump to the use of drugs - and I absolutely do not want pitocin (I told him this with DD as well and was induced with only cervadil).

I guess that's about it. Any suggestions as to how to get this baby OUT?

No suggestions, but I'm glad everything is ok! Good luck avoiding the induction.

Great news!!!! I think the sweep is a great idea and hopefully it will get things going for you. Other than walking ( which I cant do at the moment ) and all the old time advice like spicy food and castor oil ( on docs approval ) DTD....I dont have any suggestions.

Hoping we can all soon be holding our little bundles of love!!!

Thank goodness everything is ok That's great. I stopped gaining toward the end too. I don't know if you're interested but I did a lot of looking in to the gestationsl diabetes induction stuff and it is not supported by evidence. I could share some linnks with you.

Hope litttle one gets busy soon

Are you on insulin? I had gestational diabetes but my numbers were great so the doctors weren't overly concerned. There was no talk of inductions because of the diabetes.

GL! I tried everything (except castor oil), and nothing worked. Was induced at 41 weeks.

No, I'm not. My GD is diet controlled and according to my doc "well controlled"... So I don't understand what the big hullabaloo is about!

I tried everything including the castor oil. The castor oil did get contractions started. I took it in the morning and at night started having contractions 10 minutes apart, but the next afternoon they were only 8 minutes apart! I think it is only successful if your body is actually ready for it, which mine was not. Also, considering I was 42 weeks, perhaps the contractions were just a coincidence too.
