Has anyone heard or (or have) the Sure Cuts A Lot software for their Cricut?

I just read about this on another site and now I am interested in it. It seems that you would be able to cut ANY font from your computer through the Cricut.

You have to have the cartridge of the font or shape that you want to cut or else it won't work, that's the catch. But it does let you have a look at all but the newer cartridges that are out.

I really love being able to attach the letters together how ever I want. That's why I got the smaller Cricut machine so it can stay hooked up to the computer

If you use the software, it voids your cricut warranty - How they can tell I don't know and I assume its just a scare tactic, but yeah. I'd rather play it safe and wait until my warranty is up just in case.

Provo craft also came out saying some people had issues with their machine after using the software, but I haven't actually encountered any truth to that through other forums. I haven't looked into SCAL specifically too much, but every time I've come across it on other sites people seem to have nothing but great things to say about it.

Once my warranty is up (which it might already be, need to check) I plan to look into it a little more. I'd still buy cartridges, but it would nice to be able to focus on only adding the shape carts to my collection

Thats Design studio, not SCAL. Provo Craft makes Design Studio, SCAL is a company other that provo craft. You do need the cartridges for Design studio, but SCAL cuts straight off your computer, no cart needed.

Thanks, I have been thinking of upgrading my trial of Design Studio and was looking up the info on it and came across the SCAL stuff. I am still on the fence with it now so we will see.

REALLY??? I just got my cricut and only have 2 cartridges. But if I could get software that would make it so I wouldn't have to get cartridges, that would be SO AWESOME!

Here is the site that sells it http://www.craftedge.com
According to them you would be able to cut anything from the fonts and dingbats on your computer. I don't know about any other type of images. I think you would still need cartridges for the shapes and stuff.

Wow, if it's really as good as it sounds, it'll be amazing. I somehow don't think Provocraft would endorse this though. It cuts down on their cartridge sales.

I know this is an old thread but I didn't want to start a new one for this. Have any of you tried it?

I havenít tried it and I wonít be. Iím not sure if SCAL found a way around this or not but I know with the last update of DS when storybook and all those new carts came out, there was supposed to be an update to the newest DS that included an update to the cricut firmware that made it so you wouldnít be able to use SCAL. So, if you already had SCAL it made it so you could never get DS or you couldnít update if you already had it. Like I said SCAL may have found a way around this by now but its nothing I personally want to mess with.

But, I also have a lot of cartridges. If I only had one or two I might be more tempted to try SCAL and use just that with the cricut. But, I also like not having to have my computer hooked up to my cricut all the time and you can get decent deals on carts now so SCAL lost a lot of its temptation for me. Iím too afraid to do anything that might hurt my bug lol.

Eta - I checked the website and it looks like SCAL still works, even with the updated firmware - so I guess what PC did either didnít work, was a scare tactic, the site I heard it from was wrong, or SCAL got around it. Iím still going to stick to carts personally though. I love my laptop but I spend enough time on it as is! Plus if PC does eventually find a way to make it so SCAL doesnít work with DS, Iíd be upset.

I'm happy with getting seperate carts right now.

And I am actually enjoying the break from my computer and printer!

But...if SCAL gets to be a popular thing...don't you think PC will come up with something that's better?
