I received an invite from a friend for a Christmas/Holiday Shoebox Card Party. The party does sound like it'll be fun, and I've never done this before. Have any of you ever participated in one of these? Here are the instructions on the invite.

WHAT TO DO AHEAD OF TIME:
1. Design and make a sample card
2. Write up clear directions so others know what to do.
3. Cut all the paper involved to make the card you designed for ____ (to be filled in once we know how many will be participating.)
4. Prepare ____ (to be filled in once we know how many will be paqrticipating) baggies containing all the pieces needed to make one card.
5. Place the baggies in a shoebox. (plastic, cardboard, or other similar box)
6. Put all additional tools needed to make the card. (stamp(s), punche(s), stamp pad, embellishments, directions, sample card, etc) in the shoebox and bring it with you.
7. RSVP BY: Wed., Nov. 12th (so that everyone can know how many baggies to prepare.)

WHAT TO BRING TO THE PARTY:
1. You, and a friend, if you choose.
2. Your prepared shoebox.
3. A tape runner, glue stick or other adhesive you prefer.
4. Scissors
5. Small ruler, if you have one.
6. Cutting mat, if you have one.

WHAT IS DONE AT THE PARTY:
1. We gather around a table with our shoeboxes in front of us.
2. When we're ready to start we all pass our shoebox to the person on our left.
3. You will take out the instructions, read, look at the sample card and then make your card.
4. When everyone is eady, you will pass the shoebox you currently have to your left and repeat the process starting with #3 above with the new shoebox.
5. Repeat until everyone receives the shoebox they originally brought with them.

So, I won't know yet how many cards I'll need to prepare for. And my head is aching just thinking of designing one to share. I just can't think of anything creative right now. Usually I change my mind with every card I make, and rarely can duplicate a card. Any suggestions?

That sounds like a ton of fun! Sort of like a cookie exchange but for cards that you do together! What fun!

I know Archivers sent out their ad with some really simple pretty cards. I wonder if they have any examples on their site so you can get some ideas there. I know Michaels usually has some instructions on their site for Xmas cards too.

Never been to one or heard of it but sounds fun!

I would also check out sites like Scrapbooks etc. & scrapbook.com (gallery search) for Christmas cards. Find a design you like & make it then just write down what you used so you know how to do it (& others know) and figure out what you need to make 20 maybe? Guess that depends on the # of people going, maybe she can give you an approx. guess of how many are attending... but 20 is the minimum I'd prepare for.

I have never heard of it but it sounds like tons of fun!

Thanks ladies! I will definitely share what cards we make and how the party goes. I'd never heard of this before, but it sounds like it'll be alot of fun. I'm checking out those suggested websites and looking for inspiration. Luckily I have a couple of weeks to figure this out.
