I have had a chance to use the slice, and to be completely honest, I hate it! (SO glad I can be honest here and not have to have my saleslady voice on).
I am sure that it has its benefits - one being the fact that you never have to replace the cutting mat. HOWEVER - more often than not you have to apply the sticky adhesive to keep your paper from moving and that is pretty much the same as replacing a cricut mat.
I hate that it is so small. It only cuts up to 4 inches and the mat itself is tiny. The cricut mat is bigger, and if you have the expression, you are SET. This is too small for me.
Yes, it is portable but it works the same way as anything else and needs to be charged and it seems to me that after it is unplugged for more than 12 hours or so regardless of whether you are constanlty using it or it just sits on the shelf it needs to be recharged.
The cartridges are the best part about it. Each cartrdige is approx. $45 and it comes with alphas AND designs, unlike the cricut where you just get one or the other.
But honestly, if you have a cricut and a few of the cartridges STICK WITH THE CRICUT at least for now while the slice retail for $200. When it goes down in price, take a look at it again and it may have its bumps removed as they improve things over time.
