So, I have my Cricut, but had to go out and get a new mat since the one that came with it was all mangled. I have it put together and everything, but am wondering if something is wrong. I am having issues with the blade coming out to cut the paper. I think it's put together right, but I'm not sure. I put the paper in, type what I want in and hit the cut button. The carriage looks like it is putting the words on the paper, but the blade won't come out. Does anyone have any ideas or tips for me?

So the machine works and moves and all that... its just not cutting?

The blade is probably out - check your blade depth (on top of the green blade housing there is a dial with numbers... make sure its not set on one or anything super low unless your cutting vellum or the like). If that is set, check your pressure setting which is the dial below the speed setting on the actual machine. If that is set too low, it won't cut.

If this is all right make sure your blade housing is installed correctly and not too high up or such.

Dunno if this helps, but this is what my blade looks like. It's on 4. Sorry it's blurry - was trying to focus manually, hold the blade and press the button, but you get the general picture on how far the blade sticks out of the housing when it's not on.

This is what it should look like in the machine. Like there are two sets of like notches on the blade housing, so make sure it is sitting in the clamp thing on the top notch so the bottom one is hanging out.
