I've never done it, but would like to. What kind of ink do you use though? Any tips?

I just take whatever ink pad is handy or the right color and smear it on the paper. Very low tech here. Practice on scraps and the angle you hold the paper at will affect how it turns out. Some times the paper is rubbed on the pad some times I scootch the glass matt out and match the paper up to the edge of teh glass and wipe the ink over the edge.

I just rub my regular ink on the paper. Usually along the edges.

Brittanie, when you say "regular ink" you mean...? The only ink I use is Sharpie pens... does that work?

I've used my ink pads, or my markers. Depends on what I want to do and what color I'm looking for.

I usually use my pigment ink pads. Most of the ones I have are the ones that are like pie pieces. They are really easy to ink the edges. I just take them and run them along the edge.

Pigment ink pads, rather than chalk pads or some others I've seen. You know, stamping ink. lol I guess you could do it with markers too. I've never done it with markers though, since I had the stamp pads.

I use any and all ink i have, i really like the petal shaped ones or the cat's eye shaped ones for inking around letters, but a quick tip if you don't have those and need to ink a small corner or something, ink a Q-Tip and use that to apply the ink. and yes sharpie pens or markers will work but i suggest inking from the back unless you slip and make a line on the paper, i have done this before if i don't have the right color ink

I guess I'm the odd one out - I usually use "regular" dye based inks for edges. Pigment inks take longer to dry so if you're using that be careful not to smear or set the page on anything until its fully dry, or heat set it. Dye/water based inks can also smear but in my experience take less time to dry.
