It seems, to me at least, a lot of the independent small scrap stores are being pushed out of business by the larger stores. We had an adorable little shop that had all sorts of things you couldn't get at the other stores, held classes and crops, etc. But the did close down several months ago. The were priced higher than Joann and Michaels so I didn't do all my shopping there, but I loved to see what they had, browse, and I always went there for special projects and better quality paper and patterns you couldn't get at the other stores.

My closest LSS is about an hour away. We have had quite a few start up closer, but they don't last very long. I don't do much shopping at the LSS because 1) it is an hour away and 2) they cater more to sewing, knitting, crocheting, and beading than scrapping. I did try to do quite a bit of shopping at the ones that were a little closer to me while they were in business though. Sad to see them go.
