Hi All.... I admitted when I first introduced myself that I haven't really scrapbooked for almost 2 years.... Well I was working on the Holiday Planner project and I was trying to cut out an embellishment and the cricut kept ripping the paper (cardstock and regular patterned paper). Does anyone have an idea of why it's doing this?

Is the embellishment small or have many intricate cuts (like a snowflake)? I know I have that trouble sometimes with smaller or more intricate cuts. What are your speed, pressure and blade depth settings at? They may need to be adjusted. Another possibility is that your blade may be dull and need changed. I have also noticed that if my paper feels slightly damp (like it is absorbing humidity from the air) that it doesn't cut as well.

I was going to suggest either not enough stick on the mat or you need a new blade. Size could also be a possibility. The smaller the shape, sometimes the harder it is to cut.

Thanks! I have never replaced the blade so maybe when I am at the craft store tomorrow I will pick up a new one.

I'd never thought of going up one before! I'll have to remember that next time I have problems.

Man when I have this problem I try turning all the knobs, sept the speed. I've never changed the speed. Pretty sure its on the lowest setting now.. But I change the pressure number and the blade number.

Just re-read my post....It was supposed to say I'd never thought of going DOWN one before! LOL!! I always increase my pressure when I have that problem rather than lower it.
