Garrett had a fever yesterday and all last night. It broke thank goodness!! But not Im noticing a small possible blister on his upper lip. It kinda just looks like a pimple, but if I stretch the skin out around the area, I can see possible small blisters and it is red around the area.. So of course fever blister is what I think of. I google (bad bad bad!) and it says Fever Blisters are caused by a strain of herpes virus.
K, so normally I wouldnt worry about this because Hello, where would he get herpes from, right?? Well DH & MIL both have a strain of the virus in their ear.. Like if they get super stressed their ear starts hurting and eventually a blister forms. They are prescribed herpes medication and ointment to take care of it.
So Im freaking. What if my son has to live his life with fever blisters!? What if he kisses sister or baby and passes it to them?? I mean, Ive read that the most contagious time is when the blisters open/wheep.
Being the first day Ive seen this blister looking thing, I know I could just be tripping.. Its probably the hormones that are making me worry so much.. Ugh! I just hope the spot is gone tomorrow!!
I have heard that almost everyone carries the strain of the herpes virus that causes cold sores/fever blisters and that it just acts up in certain people. I have had them since I was a kid. I have found that taking L-Lysine supplements decreases the severity and likely hood of getting them. I have also started using Morgan's Lysine Lip Balm as well (that alone usually clears it up in a couple of days). I can find the lip balm at our Walmart. The Lysine doesn't work on everyone, but it might be worth a try if you are worried about it. I do know for me though, that using the Lysine has made a world of a difference in how often I get and how severe my cold sores are though! So wish I would have known about it sooner!!
(((HUGS))) I hope that's not what it is, but hope that if it is the advice I gave helps a little.

I've had them (although now that I think of it, I haven't in a couple of years), most people contract the virus at one time or another. You're probably worrying about nothing, but I hope it clears up soon regardless.
Thank you ladies!! Everything you all had to say made me feel better. Thanks for the info too, Kelsey.. I think I was just overly hormonal and emotional.. The area is still redish but now Im not to worried about it.. Thanks again!!
