Today's technique/tutorial is: Making a Piano Hinge Book

Here is a tutorial for this technique: Piano Hinge Book - There are several tutorials, google and you'll see them. I thought this one explained things the best and was easy to follow along.

Approximate time from start to finish: About 30 minutes + - could probably be done less, after you do the first one.

Difficulty: I'm going to say a 2-3. I found it fairly easy to do, once I got the skewers feeding through correctly. It took me a couple of tries (and some finger pricks) to figure out how to attach the other pages.

Suggestions: I would recommend trimming off the pointy edge of the skewers or covering them with tape to blunt them, as I kept poking myself with them. I'm such a klutz.

Pics - due to technical difficulties (i.e. I was an idiot and decided to give my phone a bath), so I will have to retake some pics with my real camera & not the phone to post my finished book. It was a fun project, and I chose to use doublesided pattern cardstock. Right now, I've not trimmed down the skewers, but will figure out a good way to do that to keep others from poking themself and to make the book more compact.

Super cute mini album!! I think I would have to cut the points off as I would always be poking myself too!

It's very cute! I'm not much of a mini album person, but I'm thinking of something I can do with one

I realized I forgot to post some of my pics from this project.

Helpful tips:
I used double sided cardstock. It gave me some variety of patterns and to have as a base of album. I look forward to adding pics & embellishments.

tweezers - the rounded edge type. I used those to open up the slots, and lined them up with skewer. I found it easier to insert them that way.
