My mother and I really enjoy scrapbooking, card making, etc and people are always asking us to make gifts and things for them so we though, why not make it into a profitable business?? We're doing recipe scrapbooks, scrapbooks, cards, birth announcements, wedding invitations, etc... we're doing it in our city as well as online... do you think there's potential for a successful business in this market?
I know I gave away cards this Mother's Day and was told the same thing that you should sell them. But problem is they are a lot of work, So I guess if you find the right clientele that is willing to spend extra for the handcrafting, then yes it could be a hit. I know I checked out ebay for handcrafted cards and it didn't seem like they were really getting up there in bids.
I think that is exactly the key you need to find the "right clientel". Those that were willing to pay more for custom products. Because like mentioned about it is a lot of work to get a production line going and time is money so you would have to see if you could make enough to make it work.
most people just don't realize the cost of supplies and time it takes....sadly they underestimate the worth of what we do. have you ever been to etsy.com? a lot of people make crafts and sell their (kind of like ebay) and some hand made cards seem really expensive and some seem like people are losing money making them......either way, you might wanna check out the website!
