I am popping in from the August DDC! I love to scrapbook and needed advice on software. I want something that is relatively simple to use and inexpensive. I am specifically looking for a software that will allow me to colorize (I think that is the word) If I have a black and white picture and want one item to be color. Do you have any ideas on what I should look into?

photoshop elements is around $100. the corel paint shop pro may be a little less expensive but i had a hard time learning how to use it, and by the time i was finally getting it, my free trial was over. but anyway....do you know about masking/unmasking? here's a website with good directions:
With the mask in place protecting the part you want in color, desaturate your image. The masked portion (in this case, the can of soda) will remain in color.
Corel Photo-Paint: Image > Adjust > Desaturate
Adobe Photoshop: Image > Adjust > Desaturate
Adobe Photoshop Elements: Enhance > Adjust Color > Remove Color
and in the photography forum, i found this thread:
