I'm waiting on an OB/GYN office to call back to see if they'll accept me on as a client.. Since I'm carrying twins the receptionist took some info & said she would have to see if the Doctor will take me on. She, the OB, is HIGHLY recommended!! She is super VBAC friendly (I'm not a VBAC but I love that its bolded on her website!) & extremely vaginal birth friendly for twins. A lot of other Doula's & birth professionals in my area said she will be my BEST bet.. UGH!! What if she says no??

Update: I just got a call back.. They said to go ahead & call them when I'm ready to schedule an appointment!!!! AHHHHH!!!! : I'm so happy!!

Good luck, the only reason she has to say no is if she's fully booked.

I hope they call back soon and take you on! Keep us updated!

I went through this last pregnancy with my perinatologist. He's with the best practice in San Diego (not just my opinion, it's been published several times). My ob wrote a referral but told me I still might not get in. I was so nervous because my pregnancy was high risk and I wanted the best. It all worked out, thankfully, and I had an amazing experience with him, as amazing as 6 weeks in the hospital can be lol.

I'm sure they won't say no. I always wondered how it works being a gestational carrier--for some reason I would have thought they would be more involved in the process of choosing the doctor, but I suppose since it's your body it's your choice.

that's good news for the parents, right? I mean, obviously YOU aren't the one paying for your medical care while being a gestational carrier???

Yep, I have full choice over my body. They are paying & they obviously want me to be considerate of their choices, but thankfully my agency knows my back ground with my doula work & they are being very open in allowing me to check out different OB's since I agree to go the medical route instead of the midwife route per their requests.

And the price really doesn't matter, they are going to pay for the care, but its still important to make sure that prices are good & not outrageous. Some places also have different pricing for cash pay as well, so I was really pleased in comparison to some lesser "quality" facilities that charge double what she does.

Yeah I had the craziest pregnancy ever! Fainting episodes (more than 20), gestational diabetes, pre-term labor, AND he had a triple nuchal cord. It was nuts. My first pregnancy was completely normal and I'm praying this one is too.
