So I've had the same pediatrician for all my children since 1998, but now I'm seriously considering getting a new pediatrician. My reason being is more so because of the office staff. I love the pediatrician but in the past few years he's replaced the old secretaries with these new ladies & we just haven't clicked. I don't like their tone or attitude when I call and ask questions and things. I shouldn't have to be nervous or upset when I call my children's doctor's office. I may just be overreacting right?? But anyway, I want to get a new pediatrician in time for the new baby, but since its been so long since I've had to switch doctors I don't even know where to begin!
Any help/ suggestions?
So I just got off the phone with the office. I asked to speak to my doctor just because its a small office so there isn't anyone in 'charge' of the secretaries except really the doctor. I calmly explained my feelings about the matter & how didnt want to lose him as my chidrens doctor, but I would leave if things werent resolved with his staff. He was genuinely concerned & reassured me that they would take care of it. So I'm hoping for the best & seeing how the staff & I interract in the future.
Thanks for all your help ladies. You guys were right about not leaving until I at least talked to them .
& surprise #4 on the way August 20, 2013!

I was the secretary for a pediatrician for years, and it really sucks that the office staff is scaring you off!
My advice: Don't give up a doctor you are happy with! They are hard to come by!! Call the office and ask to speak to an office manager and express your concerns. Let them know that you are genuinely thinking of switching practices totally due to the attitudes of the staff, not the doctor. The staff is supposed to be courteous and helpful- we used to have to take classes on the proper way to speak on the phone and handle upset parents.
I hope you can get some results from a call, but definitely don't give up a doctor you are happy with!
