Hi ladies I am fairly new here. I am 8 weeks had my u/s last Wednesday everything was great baby was 15mm with hr of 150. But I have been having some occasional cramping I know I could be my uterus stretching but I am worried it also could be my fibroid growing. At my u/s the tech made a comment that I can't stop thinking about. When I told her I have had 3 m/c with no cause she looked at me funny and said "doesn't your dr think it could be your fibroid causing you problems?" When I said that dr said fibroid was not an issue she made a funny face and was cranky from then on. Anyone else with fibroids? I am so worried. I see dr tomorrow afternoon. Right before my first m/c my fibroid grew so much that my uterus bulged on the right side and was very tender. I am trying not to get too worked up but it's hard not to worry.

I don't have experience with them, but I hope that everything is ok.

I've got them! With my first pregnancy I grew a 10cm (grapefruit size) fibroid between 4 and 12 weeks. It is "pedunculated", so it is attached to the outside of my uterus by a thick stalk. At first, before they figured out what it was, they thought I was further along than I thought, then it started pushing out on the left side, and they thought my uterus was tilted to the left. At tat point it was my only one. They monitored baby by ultrasound once a month to male sure it wasn't "stealing" from the baby. It didn't. The only problems I had were extreme tenderness. Because of the type of fibroid, it moves around a little. For a while it caused contractions, I was on bedrest for irritable uterus. Every time I moved too much, it irritated the fibroid, which caused pain and contractions.

With my 2nd they were afraid it was compressing my ureters, and I had done issues with intense pain from it, so I was checked a few times to make sure it wasn't going into degeneration.

I've had 2 miscarriages, and the fibroids haven't been a cause. I've got 3 or 4 more small ones that have developed in the 5 years since my last baby. I'm worried because baby attached relatively near one that is in the wall. If the fibroid doesn't grow, it shouldn't be a problem.

As far as yours go, it really depends on where the fibroids are (are they inside the uterus, in the wall, or on the outside?) For all of the obsessive researching I've done over the last 8 years, the ones that seem to give troubles for pregnancy are the ones on the inside, or if the placenta is attached right on top of one where there would be a blood supply issue, or if they start to degenerate during the pregnancy, or if they're big enough that they cause contractions, or are blocking the cervix.

Good luck! I hope your don't cause problems! I hope my new ones, or my big old one doesn't either.

Sorry for some typos and misspellings! I'm typing from my phone. Ugh

Thank finally a reply! I was starting to think I was the only one. I have only one fibroid I believe it is inside the wall of my uterus it's on my right side near the top. During my first m/c it cause my uterus to bulge and was tender. At 12 weeks my baby was found with no hb and the fibroid was 9 cm. I choose to wait to m/c on my own. Bad idea as I lost so much blood I ended up in Hospital for 4 days. My next two m/c were super early and fibroid did not grow. Before this pg it was 5 or 6 cm. I find out this afternoon how big it is now and where baby is hanging out.

It's so stressful and to make it worse my 14 yr old dd is acting out horribly! It's so hard to find the energy to deal with her when all I want to do is sleep.

Your dr says they are not going to cause you problems?

Sorry for the long post. I am so stressed didn't sleep well last night.

What did you find out?

I was so stressed about the fibroid the first pregnancy, and I'm weary of them now, but not super stressed. Yes, the doctor states they should not be a problem.

Good luck!

Mine has barely grown at all so far. It's 5.6cm. Dr says not to worry and there is nothing he can do either way.
