I found an app on the iPad for $4.99. It said works best at 28+ weeks but one of the reviews said she heard it at 11 weeks. So I bought it. Yesterday I tried it, and I think I heard the HB. But I could only find it for like 3 seconds before it disappeared. It sounded like a galloping horse so I figure its the right HB. Hope I can pick it up again and longer and record it.

The iPad and iPhone (it not compatible with the mini or iPhone 5 yet) have a microphone and that's at the top of the iPad, so you just press that against your belly. And use headphones to listen. The room has to be completely silent, and you really have to listen because its not too loud. It shows the lines on the screen, but doesn't show a number for the hr. I tested out on my heart first so I'd know what to be listening for (same but faster). Gonna try again after the kids go to school. I imagine I won't hear it really good until I'm further along though.
