I know that we are told not to paint while pregnant because the fumes and chemicals in household paints, but we're hoping to list our house on the market in the next few months and we have a LOT of painting to do. Has anyone else painted during pregnancy?

My ob says it's fine to paint as long as the room is well ventilated. She suggested putting a fan on in the room, opening all windows in not only that room but the rooms surrounding it too.
We're hoping to sell soon too so we'll be painting!

My OB is pretty relaxed but she had no problems with me painting or even working on our big remodel we are doing as long as I dont lift heavy stuff or over exert myself!

Agreed with above. I painted my classroom when I was pregnant with #3 and we're getting ready to paint our house too and have always been told the same thing, well ventilated area.

I painted DS1's room when I was 8 months pregnant with DS 2. I was even up on a ladder painting stars on the ceiling. My mom flipped out when she found out!!

Just keep windows open, find a nice waterbased paint, and you should be good!!

Thanks ladies! I painted our oldest son's room when I was 7 months pregnant with him and it worked out okay. I think I was just nervous about doing all that painting this early in the pregnancy. Hopefully it warms up here soon so we can open the windows. Right now it's close to 0!

Send a message via AIM to Kelllilee
You can also get low VOC paint that has less hazardous fumes.

we painted two of our girls room when I was pregnant, (really pregnant) and I didn't have any problems. We kept it really ventilated and if it got too much for me, I took a break.
